Turning Performance, Uncertainty and Risk Into Decision Confidence

Get CertaQ is a quantitative decision-support model in development, designed to connect earned value performance, portfolio risk, forecasting and executive decision-making across projects, programs and portfolios.

Why I’m Building It

Traditional reports show what happened. Leaders need earlier warning and quantified decision context. Get CertaQ is my response to that gap—a model that translates performance and risk signals into forward-looking insight leaders can act on.

Earned Value & Delivery Performance

Turn earned-value, schedule, cost and execution metrics into meaningful health and early-warning signals.

Portfolio Risk & Uncertainty

Aggregate and prioritize exposure across projects, programs and portfolios, including dependencies and concentration.

P50 / P80 Forecasting

Quantify ranges and scenarios to support realistic expectations rather than single-point confidence.

Executive Decision Support

Provide transparent context, trade-offs and risk-informed options with recommended actions. The model informs decisions; it does not make them.

Project → Program → Portfolio

Evidence aggregates upward. Project-level performance, cost, schedule and risk information rolls into program views and then into a portfolio picture, so exposure can be compared and concentrations become visible instead of staying local.

Decision context flows back down. Portfolio priorities, trade-offs and agreed responses return to the program and project level, and every portfolio figure remains traceable to the evidence beneath it.

Current Development Focus

  • Weekly snapshot model

    Being tested

Validating the data pipeline and core measures using repeated project snapshots rather than overwritten records.

  • Trend and early-warning logic

    Being refined

Improving signal sensitivity so meaningful deviations surface sooner than conventional period reporting allows.

  • Monte Carlo and scenario engine

    Under development

Building the simulation and scenario layer that produces duration and cost outcome ranges.

  • Portfolio and program aggregation

    Under development

Extending the hierarchy so project evidence rolls up reliably, including dependency logic between initiatives.

  • Decision-context and trade-off framework

    Being refined

Shaping how quantified exposure, dominant drivers and options are presented for leadership judgement.

What It Is, and What It Is Not

Principles

  • Evidence-led, using structured delivery and risk information rather than narrative alone.
  • Transparent about assumptions, so results can be questioned and adjusted.
  • Traceable from a portfolio view back to the underlying project evidence.
  • Explicit about uncertainty, expressing outcomes as ranges instead of false precision.
  • Built around human decision ownership.

Current Scope

  • Supports leadership decisions while keeping final judgement with the responsible leader.
  • Strengthens decision confidence through quantified forecasts, risk intelligence and transparent assumptions.
  • Currently under development and validation.
  • Complements existing risk registers and reporting dashboards.
